These #2 tapersawn shingles are 100% old growth vertical grain heartwood and are sawn with an extra thick 5/8″ butt and are 18″ long. No defects are allowed in the #2 grade on the bottom nine inches of the shingle, which means there will be no visible defects once installed! It also means they can be used for roofing as well as sidewalls ! Seven bundles will cover 100 SF at 5.5″ exposure. Five bundles will cover 100 SF at 7.5″ exposure. Alaskan Yellow Cedar is highly decay resistant (more so than Western Red Cedar) and within a few months weathers naturally to a silvery gray as shown in the photos below.
